We asked our recruiters for common questions they ask candidates during a phone screen. Here are the top questions and their recommendations to help you get to the next step of the process!
- What interested you about our company? This is a very common interview question and one that you should be prepared for. Do your research and know what the company does and a little bit of history behind the organization. Ensure your answer is unique as this shows that you did your research.
- Why are you interested in this position? Take the time to thoroughly review the job description and write down why it interests you. Recruiters and employers want to see that you are truly interested in the role you are applying for and not just trying to get a job.
- Why are you looking for a new position? This is a big one and is a question that could make or break your interview. Looking for growth in your career is understandable but coming in and talking about past conflicts is a red flag. Be positive when answering this question.
- What is your salary/hourly wage requirement? A lot of companies are discussing pay during the first interview to make sure the wages align with what you would consider acceptable. If you aren’t sure where you’d like to be as far as pay, it’s ok to ask them for the pay range for the role. Make it a conversation, not a debate.
