10 Must Do’s for a Job Interview: How to Prepare to Make the Interview Go Well

April 12, 2022

Prepare for your job interview — this won’t go unnoticed. Our recruiting team recommended the following steps based on their past experiences.

  1. Read the Job Description: Make sure you know what the position entails and be ready to answer job specific questions.
  2. Research the Company: Take the time to research the history and services of the company you are applying to.
  3. Prepare Questions: Make a list of questions for the interviewer and make them relevant to not only the company, but specific to the position as well.
  4. Test Yourself: Use Google as a resource and research top interview questions. Think about how you would answer these. The more you practice the more comfortable you will be.
  5. Dress to Impress: Dress for the position you are applying to, but make sure it’s something comfortable. If you aren’t feeling comfortable, you may also come across that way in your interview.
  6. Be Positive: Don’t complain about a previous manager/supervisor or speak negatively about your previous employer. This can make or break an interview.
  7. Be Early: Plan to show up early for your interview. You can’t always anticipate delays, so it’s always better to be early than late!
  8. Do a Test Run: Know where the interview location is and where you are going. If you are unsure, then ask. If it’s virtual, make sure you have the applications needed to join the interview.
  9. Know Your Interviewer(s): Make sure you know who you will be meeting with and take the time to research the individual(s).
  10. Take a Breath: Interviews can be stressful, but if you’ve prepared you have nothing to worry about.
