ACRT Services Welcomes Mike Mallaro to Board of Directors

ACRT Services, a 100% employee-owned organization and leading provider of infrastructure and environmental services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Mallaro to its Board of Directors.

Mallaro brings more than 35 years of financial and executive leadership experience, including extensive experience supporting employee-owned organizations. He currently serves as board chair at VGM Group, an employee-owned company providing business services to the healthcare industry, where he spent 23 years, including eight years as CEO.

“Mike brings a valuable combination of financial expertise, executive leadership, and firsthand experience with employee ownership,” said Brad Schroeder, CEO of ACRT Services. “He understands the responsibility that comes with building and sustaining a successful ESOP. His perspective will be especially valuable as we continue investing in our people, strengthening our business, and creating long-term value for our employee-owners.”

Mallaro joined VGM Group in 2001 as chief financial officer, where he played a key role in establishing the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). He was appointed to VGM Group’s Board of Directors in 2015 and became board chair in 2023. During his tenure as CEO, he helped guide significant growth while strengthening the organization’s employee-owned culture and emphasizing opportunities for employee advancement and long-term investment in employee-owners.

Prior to joining VGM Group, Mallaro spent 12 years with Deloitte and served as chief financial officer for Gordmans. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Iowa and was inducted into the Cedar Valley Business Hall of Fame in 2022. He also serves on several corporate and community boards, including the Iowa Center for Employee Ownership, Wartburg College, and the Otto Schoitz Foundation.

ACRT Services has been 100% employee-owned since 2003. Mallaro’s appointment brings additional experience in ESOP governance, financial stewardship, and long-term organizational growth to its Board of Directors.
