This year’s Managers’ Summit was held at Deer Creek State Park in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. The meeting brought together representatives from ACRT Services and all four operating companies (ACRT, ACRT Pacific, Bermex, and EnviroScience).
The meeting is focused on progress reports, learning, strategic discussions, and team building. The agenda was spread out across three days. Executives provided updates within their sphere of happenings within their departments and presidents reported their goals for the coming year. Training concentrated on the engagement survey results and included a workshop for hands-on learning. We had an outside expert provide an in-depth class on risk mitigation and best practices. We also heard from several company subject matter experts on their latest pursuits and plans for the coming year. Safety was a theme throughout the entire week’s topics.
It was not just all work. The team had some fun, too. I kicked things off with an introduction presentation that discussed the history of the Summits and details about the local area. The annual cup competition was a nightly flurry of activities including a fire-building water boil, free throw competition, and corn hole. Congratulations to Team ACRT for winning the cup competition! It was a very close contest. Team Bermex and EnviroScience tied for second place, and Team ACRT Pacific came in third place.
We also had managers from each company vote on a new award — The Hammer of Honor — for the top manager of the year. Each hammer was hand-crafted by Mike Weidner himself.
I have had the pleasure to attend every Manager’s Summit of the past 23 years. I find it to be one of the most important functions that I get to participate in every year. It is the one week a year where we can train all our managers together and continue to facilitate the culture that makes ACRT Services and our family of companies such a special place to work. This week felt just as special as the previous 22 iterations. I came away feeling refreshed and excited, and my batteries recharged for another year of success.
Thank you to all the participants, event planners, and facilitators for making number 23 special.
