Dec. 21, 2021 — Stow, Ohio — ACRT Services’ Director of Research, Science, and Innovation, Anand Persad, Ph.D., has been named as the recipient of the 2021 International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research. He was honored during the ISA 2021 International Virtual Conference awards ceremony, Tuesday, Dec. 14.
The L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research “recognizes individuals whose research has contributed valuable information to arboriculture.”
This honor is one of the ISA’s Awards of Distinction — the highest honors given by ISA based on nominations submitted by members and industry professionals. Nominations are reviewed by the ISA Awards Committee, and the committee submits a roster of recommended award recipients to the ISA Board of Directors for approval.
Dr. Persad has been an avid researcher in arboriculture for more than 15 years and has spoken at numerous ISA, UAA, and international events. He is the lead author of several peer-reviewed manuscripts and is instrumental in transferring technology to the broad tree and turf care industry groups through collaborative research and joint teaching with several national and international agencies.
He collaborates with a multidisciplinary international team of researchers focused on industry-based research in arboriculture, tree biomechanics, pollinator health, and other innovations that improve green space health. He has additionally provided technical advice in wetland restoration, delineation projects, and avian surveys.
“I’m happy to be among the great group of scientists who went before me — from Alex Shigo to William Bramble and William Byrnes,” said Dr. Persad. “The research I’m conducting with the ACRT Services Research, Science, and Innovation team has a pragmatic appeal and applies to the industry. Our goal is to make the industry better, safer, and close the gap between the human element and green space management through an active, relevant, and targeted research program.”
“Through his research, Dr. Persad is positioning our family of companies and the industry well for the future. In our everchanging industry, being honored with the L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research proves that Dr. Persad is leading arboriculture research in the right direction,” said John Wasmer, ACRT Services’ executive vice president of revenue.
